International University of Applied Sciences in Germany to Accept StraighterLine Courses Through New Partnership

  • StraighterLine’s partnership with International University of Applied Sciences is the first of its kind in Germany and Europe
  • U.S. students now have access to a globally recognized, top-rated bachelor’s degree from Europe
  • The partnership offers StraighterLine students flexible study programs in both English and German, as well as the possibility to study a semester in Germany

StraighterLine, the leading provider of affordable, online college courses, has partnered with International University of Applied Sciences (IU), Germany’s largest university with 85,000 students, to provide a way for students to lower the cost of their degree and shorten their study time through flexible online courses. IU will now accept credits earned from 24 StraighterLine online courses including Accounting (I and II), CompTIA Network+, and Organizational Behavior.

“We are happy to welcome StraighterLine into our partnership network and offer its students the opportunity to study in an international and flexible environment. We believe that we can offer US students a real added value with our three-year job-relevant bachelor programs at just a fraction of the US cost.” Carolin Kreuder, COO Corporate Programs, IU

IU serves students in 174 countries around the world and offers more than 200 bachelor, master and MBA degrees with more than 50 programs available in English. IU is a state-approved and accredited university and has been accredited unconditionally by the German Council of Science and Humanities for ten years and is ranked by the European Center for Higher Education as the best German private school for Business and Management. IU has on-campus locations in Berlin and Bad Honnef, Germany, however 80% of their students study entirely online.

Most IU students complete their studies while working full-time, which makes the flexibility of their programs attractive to adult learners. IU prides itself on its high quality, affordable, and career-focused degree programs that start as low as $7,916 for a full bachelor’s degree, and as low as $5,579 for a full master’s degree. With a strong expertise in helping working adults complete their degrees successfully, IU offers courses focused on teaching market-relevant skills for the future workforce.

“There is so much synergy between the missions of IU and StraighterLine. We both seek to help adult learners succeed on a pathway to employability and career success by offering high-quality online courses coupled with all of the support they need to be successful. Our partnership offers students in the United States and around the world an opportunity to save money on their degree and graduate faster so they can get started in their career.” Dr. Amy Smith, Chief Learning Officer, StraighterLine

Built and managed by educators, StraighterLine’s alternative pathway programs offer higher education institutions a flexible, affordable way for students to take general education courses online that easily transfer via a credit articulation and referral partnership. With no upfront or ongoing costs to the school, partnering with StraighterLine allows schools to allocate their resources where they are needed most. Pathways are specifically tailored to consist of only the course selections that meet the institution’s needs. Schools can choose from 60+ American Council on Education (ACE) Credit recommended general education courses.

In addition, students who take courses through StraighterLine receive free eTextbooks, live student support, and 24/7 free on-demand tutoring and writing help online.

“One of the benefits of taking online courses through StraighterLine in addition to credit transfer, is our wraparound student support,” said Smith. “Students have access to 24/7 online tutoring with a live person, a writing center, and free eTextbooks. Students also work at their own pace with no homework deadlines, giving them the flexibility and the support they need to succeed.”
