WASHINGTON, D.C. - StraighterLine (www.straighterline.com), a new online education solution that provides students a high quality, better supported, and lower cost way to obtain college credits through regionally accredited colleges and universities, has announced its initial accredited institutions that provide college credit for students who successfully complete its courses. StraighterLine selected these partners for their rigorous and high quality degree programs as well as for their commitment to individual learners and their needs. The partner colleges are:
- Fort Hays State University (www.fhsu.edu), a liberal arts, state-assisted institution in western Kansas with an enrollment of more than 9,000 students.
- Jones International University (jonesinternational.edu), which received the first accreditation in the United States of a completely virtual institution. It offers graduate and undergraduate degree specializations and associated professional certificate programs in the fields of business administration, education and business communication.
- Potomac College (www.potomac.edu), an institution with locations in Washington, D.C. and Herndon, Va. that offers programs leading to the Associate of Science and the Bachelor of Science degrees that are in high demand fields.
Students who take a StraighterLine course will select one of the partner colleges to award credit for the course. They can continue their major studies and pursue their degree through this college, or they can transfer those credits to non-partner colleges that recognize StraighterLine's partner's courses as equivalent programs. Currently StraighterLine offers four entry-level curriculum courses where credit can be transferred: College Algebra, English Composition, Economics 101 and Accounting 101. More courses are planned in the future. Additional information on the StraighterLine program can be found at www.straighterline.com.
