StraighterLine has been delivering online college courses for over a decade. In that time, we’ve accumulated tons of experience and expertise on what it takes to provide a quality online environment for student success. We’ve worked with thousands of schools, from college presidents and deans to academic advisors and enrollment counselors, having earned our reputation as a trusted partner in online education that provides a high-quality online option for schools. We have helped prepare students for success in their degree programs, brought back stop-outs, and increased persistence and improved graduation rates.
With more than 60+ low-cost, self-paced general education courses to choose from, StraighterLine has helped more than 35,000 students in the last 12 months from diverse backgrounds meet a variety of higher ed goals.
So, why do so many colleges and universities turn to StraighterLine for online courses? Here are some reasons why:
Trusted By Colleges
StraighterLine puts students on the right track toward reaching their secondary education goals, but you don’t have to take our word for it — our services are trusted and respected by colleges and universities throughout the country.
StraighterLine has direct articulation agreements with more than 180 partners, including both public and private universities, as well as schools that exclusively offer degrees online and those that offer classes on-campus. We have partnerships with state schools, including community colleges with over 100,000 students and private schools with under 500. It makes no difference which type of school they attend, when students enroll at one of these colleges, we guarantee they will receive full course credit for StraighterLine courses within their degree plan.
Thousands of colleges and universities outside our partner network also accept StraighterLine courses for credit as the result of a review and recommendation by the American Council on Education (ACE). Nearly 60 percent of StraighterLine students were referred to StraighterLine directly from a representative from an academic institution.
12 Years of ACE CREDIT Recommendations
Since its founding in 2008, StraighterLine has helped college students reach their educational goals by putting them on a path toward the degree of their choice by earning college credit at their school with American Council on Education (ACE) CREDIT®. For twelve years, StraighterLine courses have been assessed, reviewed, approved and recommended by ACE for college credit.
In order for ACE to recommend a course for college credit, the course must undergo a rigorous, independent, third-party review process. After a StraighterLine course is reviewed and approved by ACE, it becomes eligible for transfer to accredited colleges and universities. Currently, all StraighterLine courses have received ACE Credit recommendations.
Approved by the U.S. Department of Education
StraighterLine was one of only a handful of online course providers selected for the EQUIP program – and the first program to successfully be approved and launched. Through EQUIP, StraighterLine was able to provide access to an online associate degree program offered in partnership with Dallas County Community College District. This innovative program provided students an opportunity to earn an associate degree while taking all classes online. This program also provided students access–for the first time–to federal financial aid for StraighterLine courses.

Students Recommend Us
A survey of 2,425 StraighterLine customers found that 91% of students who took courses in 2018 would recommend StraighterLine to a friend, family member, or coworker -- and we’ve received hundreds of real-student 5-star reviews on sites like Consumer Affairs. The number one most important reason students report choosing StraighterLine is the credit transfer pathway to their degree institution. In fact, 97% students surveyed who attempted to receive credit for a StraighterLine course were successful.
Considering that so many students have significant challenges when transferring credits from one institution to another — which sometimes forces them to re-do courses, delay graduation, and lose thousands of dollars — our streamlined credit transfer processes, and 7 days a week individualized student support — have been critical to student success.
